InfoWizz was engaged on a Library Systems Standardisation project for the City of Cape Town's Library Services. Rasagee worked on the various phases of this project as its project manager from October 2003 - May 2005. She was also responsible for the strategy formulation, business analysis and research components of this project.
In phase 1 of the project, InfoWizz and Business Data Solutions (a Cape Town based technology company) were appointed to perform the tasks necessary to provide the City of Cape Town with recommendations and supporting rationale in order to help the Social Development Directorate adopt a new, standardised library management system for their 97 libraries.
Over and above this, as a follow up to the business case, in Phase 2 (2004 - 2005), InfoWizz also undertook an investigation into the viability of utilising Open Source Software for a library management system within the City of Cape Town. An OSS solution named Evergreen was identified by InfoWizz and we (BDS and InfoWizz) proposed to SITA that they partner with us in the customisation of this system for Library Services throughout South Africa. Sadly, although Evergreen meets almost all the requirements for South Africa's public libraries (all that was missing was one module, which is currently in development), SITA opted in 2008 to go for a proprietary system.
