Also in 2006, InfoWizz was appointed to project manage a local content creation and management project for the IS & T Directorate's eGovernance Unit at the City Of Cape Town. This involves internally and externally focused knowledge and content management work in the following areas:
- Strategy development for knowledge management, content management and content creation for all eGovernance projects.
- Online content creation and management for the City Of Cape Town's Smart Cape Access sites. This is a citywide project, installing free Internet and email access into the public libraries. The first phase was the installation of the system, and was completed in 2005. The Smart Cape Access Project is the largest open source project in the Southern Hemisphere.
The objective of the second phase was to give these communities an online presence, and make their Internet experience more relevant and valuable to them. See http://www.smartcape.org.za/
This project is the first online local content creation project in South Africa.
It utilizes an open source content management system called TYPO3.
- Creating and managing a portal which functions as an information and marketing engine for all City Of Cape Town ICT4Development projects. The target market for this portal would be internal project teams, and potential partners and funders. This is still in the planning stages.
- Online content creation and management for the City Of Cape Town's Digital Business Centres. This includes micro-sites for SMMEs. This site is being upgraded at the moment.
- Write content for SmartNews, an publication which is distributed to all stakeholders of the City Of Cape Town's ICT4Development programmes. The first issue of this publication is currently in print.
InfoWizz's role on this project is strategy development, business analysis, project management, research, and content creation and management.
